Book: Like the second son in the parable, Israel had the appearance of saying “yes” to God but failed to come through with the obedience that demonstrates true faith. Even the faith of the people they despised, tax collectors and prostitutes, did not stir jealousy to motivate them to repent and believe. Failure revealed their self-deception.
